Warnings and safety information:

Warning and safety information: Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue. Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries. Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone. Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly. Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended, such as as a lever tool, can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Description

On December 9, 1942, at the beginning of World War II, KA-BAR submitted a knife to the United States Marine Corps in the hope that it would become standard issue for this branch of the military. In collaboration with the Marine Quartermaster Department, the original design was revised, resulting in the production of an improved combat and utility knife specifically tailored to the needs of the Marines. During the war, USMC KA-BAR knives gained widespread recognition for their quality and wide availability, so that “KABAR” became a colloquial term for this knife model, regardless of its manufacturer. The USMC KA-BAR was used not only by the Marines, but also by the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and mine divers. Long after World War II, these knives were unofficially reused in later conflicts such as the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and the global war on terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2019, KA-Bar expanded its horizons by partnering with Spartan Blades to form Pineland Cutlery, Inc. This collaboration aimed to realize the vision of John Stitt, CEO of KA-Bar and Pineland Cutlery, to produce an improved version of the legendary “KA-BAR” knife with enhanced cutting performance, toughness, and corrosion resistance. The result of these efforts was the Spartan KA-BAR. CPM MagnaCut was selected as the stainless steel for this project. It is manufactured by Crucible Industries, a renowned American company specializing in specialty steels, and was developed specifically for the cutlery industry and the high demands of discerning knife makers. Spartan Blades, which was commissioned to develop this knife, used state-of-the-art processes such as CNC machining, deep cryogenic treatment, and PVD coatings. The handle material is a plastic elastomer that is lightweight and highly resistant. Supplied with a leather sheath.
