Firmenportrait | Work Sharp

Founded in Illinois in 1973, the family-owned company Darex has always been committed to developing and distributing sharpening tools that are intuitive to use and deliver sharp results every time. Today, the company is based in Ashland, Oregon, and is run by the fourth generation, Matthew Bernard, with whom we have enjoyed a friendly relationship for many years.

With the slogan "Sharp Matters – a knife is only as good as its edge," Darex hits the nail on the head. The familiar Work Sharp brand encompasses all products designed for end users – from natural stones and a wide variety of sharpening systems and tools to top-of-the-line electronic belt sanders. The collaboration with the world-renowned knifemaker Ken Onion, a true legend in the knife world, is particularly memorable. This successful partnership resulted not only in the development of the highly popular Ken Onion Edition of the Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener, but also in numerous other sharpening devices and tools. In addition to developing excellent sharpening equipment, Work Sharp places great emphasis on building and maintaining strong customer relationships. Through honest feedback and the implementation of personal suggestions, the company has been able to continuously improve its existing devices and develop new, innovative tools perfectly tailored to its customers' needs for many years.

Furthermore, the sharpening experts at Work Sharp are happy to share their knowledge and provide numerous helpful videos and tutorials for learning various sharpening techniques. These range from selecting the ideal angle for different knife types and precisely setting belt sanders to the intricate process of creating a mirror-polished cutting edge. Because resharpening knives is easier than many people think, and with the right tools and proper technique, every knife can be restored to its original sharpness. And since even the best knives become dull over time, regular resharpening is absolutely essential.
