Columbia River Knife and Tool, or CRKT for short, was founded in 1994 by Rod Bremer in Oregon and has since become one of the world's most renowned knife brands. To mark its 25th anniversary in 2019, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our American friends in more detail.
CRKT offers a wide range of functional sports, work, and professional knives, as well as everyday tools, all of which are perfectly suited for practical use thanks to their robustness and the materials used. With a clear focus on creativity and customer benefits, CRKT regularly impresses with a whole host of exceptional innovations and patents, such as particularly secure locking mechanisms like the FireSafe System or new opening aids like the OutBurst Assist.
The American company achieved its breakthrough in 1997 at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The KISS (Keep It Super Simple) pocket knife, designed by Ed Halligan and presented there, quickly became a bestseller. Compact, affordable, and innovative, this model (item no. 01CR100), still available today, exemplifies CKRT's product range.
For many years, CRKT has also been producing functional knives in close cooperation with the most renowned knifemakers and designers, thus enabling all knife enthusiasts to access the latest custom designs for everyday use at affordable prices. The list of international designers is diverse and extensive, ranging from Ken Onion, Kit Carson, and James Williams to Jesper Voxnæs and Liong Mah.
