Since 31st October 2024, there has been a general ban on the handling and possession of switchblade knives of all kinds in Germany. They are now prohibited objects and the possession thereof is a criminal offence. The possession of certain switchblade knives is prohibited in accordance with Annex 2 to the German Weapons law, Section 1, Number 1.4.1, and only permitted to persons who have a legitimate interest necessitating one-handed use, such as due to the loss of an arm or a missing or dysfunctional hand, or use them in connection with professional activities, such as hunting or crafts, or sports, such as sailing or mountaineering.
