Warnings and safety information:

Warning and safety information: Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue. Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries. Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone. Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly. Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended, such as as a lever tool, can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.

Description

Hard-wearing blackthorn wood has been used for centuries as a material for premium walking sticks. The Blackthorn is found throughout Ireland and the British Isles and was used there to produce Irish shillelaghs. Stick fighting was very popular in Ireland in the 19th century and involved three disciplines: fighting with a long, medium and short shillelagh. At that time, Irish gentlemen carried the shillelagh with them at all times and disputes were often resolved with this fighting stick. Eventually, shillelaghs were outlawed by the British during the final occupation and replaced by a functional walking stick known today simply as the Blackthorn. Unlike its historical counterpart, the Cold Steel Blackthorn Walking Stick is not made from blackthorn, but from modern, high impact polypropylene. The Irish walking stick is inspired by an authentic Blackthorn from the private collection of Cold Steel founder and President, Lynn C. Thompson. It was copied carefully down to the last detail, and then skillfully modified to a point where it mimics the look of the original. It is a superb Blackthorn replica that will never warp, crack, swell up, or splinter, and is easy to maintain with a little soap and water.
