Compact Power, Crafted for Real Work
The Boker Plus Appalachian Compact distills the strength and tradition of the Appalachian axe line into a compact, trail-ready format. Forged from rugged 1055 carbon steel in the classic Rhenish style, its universal blade thickness delivers reliable performance for both felling and splitting tasks. The 10.7 cm cutting edge includes a pronounced heel that doubles as a turning nose, ideal for repositioning logs with precision. A protective lacquer coating shields the steel from rust and weather.
Despite its smaller size, this model retains the same 600 g head weight as its larger sibling, balanced by a 36 cm handle made from premium American hickory-renowned for its elasticity, toughness, and superior shock resistance. The handle is double-wedged with a wooden wedge and steel sleeve, ensuring secure, long-lasting assembly even under demanding use.
Compact and well-balanced, the Appalachian Small excels at one-handed, fatigue-free work, such as preparing kindling, tending campfires, or general bushcraft use. Its portable size also makes it perfect for rucksack or pack carry, carrying forward the heritage of the classic “kitchen axe” into the modern outdoors.
A leather blade guard is not included. Total Length: 13.97''. Weight: 1.76 lbs.
