Sharpening the view for the future

We see sustainability as an integral part of our corporate philosophy for creating qualitative added value for people and the environment over generations. As a manufacturer of high-quality products, we use renewable raw materials to a large extent and are holistically aware of our ecological, economic and social responsibility, so that we continuously scrutinize our actions with a view to optimizing all operational processes.

Our concept of sustainability begins with the careful selection of materials from preferred local partners and culminates in the lifetime warranty of our knives. Boker has stood for this unconditional claim to quality for more than 150 years and responsibly carries on this legacy to future generations through the continuously improved working conditions for its employees and apprentices. Throughout the entire value chain, we reduce the consumption of materials and resources and recycle excess material back into a production process. Only selected and certified materials are used for our knives, which meet our high quality standards and prove themselves through their long service life.

The free Boker resharpening service significantly extends the useful life of the knives and at the same time avoids an unnecessary waste of material compared to cheap disposable knives - because longevity is a supporting pillar of sustainability in our understanding.

We optimize the packaging of our products to minimize the use of materials, without neglecting either functional or visual aspects.

Nature is our biggest supplier, which is why we want to give something back to it. In 2020, an extensive reforestation project was implemented as part of the Boker Tree Planting Campaign in cooperation with the FWV Bergisches Land, in which over 12,000 young trees were planted in the Bergisches Land region. We see this measure as a starting signal to further reduce the ecological footprint and are planning further interesting projects in the future to continue the idea of sustainability.
