In order to be able to fully maintain this landmark in the future and renew the energy system, an extensive renovation program was begun in 2017 and is set to continue until 2024. The renovation has enabled us to obtain an exclusive inventory of original 100-year-old oak beams from the mighty keep of Burg Castle.
With great care and craftsmanship, we fashion these historic oak beams from the keep into handle scales for our successful kitchen knife Boker Saga that is available in a strictly limited edition of 199 pieces.
The design of the Saga series was created by Danish knife designer and renowned custom knifemaker Jesper Voxnæs and has already won the iF-Product Design Award. The knife offers excellent handle ergonomics, is perfectly balanced and can handle all cutting tasks with ease thanks to the sturdy full tang. To complement the handle material, which is not just beautifully patterned but also rather exclusive and historic, we selected the hand-forged stainless Damascus steel made by Chad Nichols from Mississippi (US).
This premium Damascus has 200 layers and a Rockwell hardness of 60 HRC, as well as the Damascus pattern "Fade" with its fine, high-contrast lines. While classic, non-stainless Damascus can be forged and folded in an open smithy, the prepared layer packages of stainless Damascus must be forged with great effort in the vacuum. Damascus steel products forged by Chad Nichols are known for their exclusive look in the kitchen and, more importantly, for the excellent edge retention and everyday functionality of the beautiful material. Let this unique composition fascinate you. With a knife from this strictly limited edition, a piece of history will live on in your kitchen. Each of these works of art comes in an elegant leather-covered gift box with a certificate of authenticity and individual serial number.
The Chef's Knife is one of the most important knives in the kitchen and belongs to the basic equipment. It has a slightly wider and longer blade than the Utility Knife. The slim tip is also suitable for cutting onions or small vegetables. Thanks to its length it can also be used as a meat knife. It is also easy to process large vegetables.
Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.
