The original Otter Mercator with its classic box construction of the steel handle receives an essential update: The clip, a feature of more recent pocketknives, ensures that the Mercator can now be conveniently clipped into the trouser pocket just like all the other modern pocketknives. Thanks to this significant added function, the Mercator becomes an unassuming everyday tool. The blade is made of 4034.

30 Tage Dauertest, z.Zt. mein Lieblings-EDC

Nach mehr als 30 Tagen "immer dabei" und im Gebrauch erlaube ich mir ein kurzes Fazit:
"Out of the box" und die Box wirklich schön, fand ich ein sehr scharfes Messer, sehr gut verarbeitet und ohne Spiel der Klinge oder des "Backlocks". Spaltmaße alle Mittig. Überraschend für mich ist dass der Clip mich als Rechtshänder definitiv nicht stört, auch nicht nach längeren Schnitzarbeiten. Für Linkshänger schwer zu beurteilen.
Die Schneidhaltigkeit ist sehr gut, Nachschärfbarkeit ebenfalls. (Es wäre nicht notwendig gewesen, aber zu Testzwecken, kurz über das Leder gezogen, zum Rassieren tauglich)
Ein Feuerstahl ist problemlos am Beginn der Klinge (zum Heft gesehen) anzureissen, selbst getestet.
Der Clip ist sehr schonend im Umgang mit der Hosentasche, hat sehr viel Spannung und ist eine Art "Deep carry", also bis zum Anschlag nutzbar und nicht umsetzbar.
Der eigentliche Nutzen bei diesem Messer besteht bei mir in der Materialauswahl, kompl. Edelstahl. Nach Nutzung mit Lebensmitteln oder nach dem Angeln etc. einfach ins Ultraschallbad, bzw. Spülbecken, abtrocknen und ein paar Tropfen Öl, die Sache hat sich. Wie oben beschrieben ab und zu übers Leder ziehen, unkaputtbar.
Fazit: Nichts für die Vitriene, einstecken, nutzen; Kaufempfehlung von mir, zweites für den Rucksack bestellt
