What you can expect
The Boker Knife Manufactory was founded in 1869 by Heinrich Boker in Solingen under the name Heinr. Boker Baumwerk & Co. Contrary to many speculations, the company name Baumwerk has nothing to do with agricultural or forestry industry. Rather, Heinrich chose the name Boker Baumwerk, as the Boker family had the tree registered as a private label for their own hand tools as early as the 17th century. Since then, the tree has been regarded as a seal of quality for high-quality cutlery. While our products are known in Europe and Asia under the brand name "Boker" or "Boker" (in non-German-speaking countries without umlaut), the name "Treebrand" has established itself due to the long history and presence in North America. In South America we are mainly known under the brand name "Arbolito" (Spanish: small tree).
The Boker manufactory in Solingen grew strongly from 1869 to the Second World War and was constantly expanded. In November 1944, the company was completely bombed out and destroyed by Allied air raids on Solingen. The rapid reconstruction after the war was mainly achieved by new export orders from the USA. In the 1980s, due to strong export activities in North and South America, the branches Boker USA in Denver, Colorado/USA and Boker Arbolito S.A. in Buenos Aires, Argentina were founded. At the end of the 1990s, the management decided to invest in a new company building at the group's headquarters in Solingen in order to be able to meet the growing demands of the international competitive environment and to continue offering high-quality and competitive Boker knives made in Solingen. Boker has established itself as one of the world's leading innovators in the manufacture of high-quality sports and collector knives. This is particularly true when unusual materials are used and constantly presents our engineers and knifemakers with new challenges. Anyone familiar with the very broad product range will get an idea of how much detailed work and craftsmanship is involved in the manufacture of a high-quality Boker knife. Our visitors are particularly impressed by the many work steps that have to be carried out by hand. Television, too, has long since discovered the fascination of our Knife Manufactory and regularly sends camera and reportage teams to us to capture the latest highlights of mankind's oldest tool in pictures and sound. Visit us in Solingen and experience a Knife Manufactory live!
Registration fee and voucher
In the past, interested parties have repeatedly registered for company tours and have unfortunately not appeared without feedback. Since we limit the number of visitors to a maximum of 15 people, places have been occupied in this way and have nevertheless remained empty on the day of the company tour. And this despite the fact that other interested parties would have liked to attend.
We have therefore decided to make the following arrangement: After registration for a company tour, the interested parties will receive an invoice from us for a registration fee for the company tour on the desired day in the amount of 15.00 € per person. At the same time you will be reserved for a goods voucher worth 15.00 €. After payment of the invoice amount has been received by us, participation in the company tour will be bindingly reserved. You will receive the goods voucher personally on site on the day of the company tour. The voucher is valid for three years and can be redeemed at the Boker knife shop in Solingen and our web shop. Cancellation of participation in the factory tour and a related refund of the registration fee is only possible up to four weeks before the factory tour, so that we can allocate the places elsewhere.
Meeting place
Please arrive early in our knife shop, here the company tour will start. It starts at 13:00 and lasts about 90 minutes. Participation is at your own risk!
