Windmühlenmesser

Windmühlenmesser was founded in 1872 by Robert Herder in the blade city of Solingen. Now in its fifth generation of family ownership, the company remains true to its credo: "Good knives are handmade." By cultivating traditional knife-making craftsmanship and using regional raw materials, the company demonstrates its connection to the Bergisches Land region. The idea for the namesake windmill originated during a trip by Paul Herder, the founder's son, through the Benelux countries, when he recognized parallels to the characteristic watermills of the Bergisches Land grinding mills. The product range includes kitchen knives, pocket knives, cutting boards, and sharpening stones.
