The history of Joseph Rodgers dates back to 1682. Founded in Sheffield, the company once produced high-quality cutlery for the British Royal Family and established its products in many countries. Despite royal recognition and overseas trade, however, the company could not escape the decline of the cutlery industry in Sheffield. The late 1900s saw the company go through a turbulent period with several changes of ownership. The Egginton Group acquired the name and trademark rights in 1986, ensuring that Joseph Rodgers knives continue to be manufactured in Sheffield, the heart of the English cutlery industry.
