In "the good old days" before electricity became the standard power source, many production machines were steam-powered. Steam was generated in a central location and piped to the various machines across the Manufactory's shop floor by means of huge flywheels.
Today, one of those flywheels has its permanent place on our premises as a memento of the early days of our company and a reminder of the changes we have weathered in the past century and a half. We took a massive piece of the flywheel shaft to forge the 180-layer Damascus steel used to create this exclusive anniversary edition designed by Chad Nichols.
Now, all owners of these exclusive kitchen knives will be able to hold an authentic piece of Boker history in their hands. The unique production and great effort of making this rare blade material are our way of expressing our appreciation for our loyal customers who have enjoyed our products for 15 decades.
Each knife features scales no less historic than the blade: As you know, the Boker tree logo goes back to the huge local chestnut tree that used to grow on our very first company premises. Although that chestnut was cut down by a thunderstorm in the early 20th century, the smoked chestnut wood of the handle scales harkens back to the roots of the famous logo, giving every knife a unique, inimitable look.
A special anniversary emblem in the handle scale creates an elegant accent. The knives are handcrafted in our Solingen manufactory in a strictly limited worldwide edition of 150 pieces. Each knife has an individual serial number and comes with a certificate of authenticity, packaged in an elegant wooden box.
Warning and safety information:
Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.
Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.
Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.
Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.
Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.
