Like the capital of the Roman Empire once built on seven hills, the Upper Franconian city of Bamberg looks back on an eventful history and was rightly given the magnificent epithet "Franconian Rome" by Emperor Henry II. The historic old town is still very well preserved in large parts and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. Numerous medieval buildings and sacred edifices draw astonished glances and take visitors back to a bygone era without seeming old-fashioned.
But in one thing Bamberg certainly has something ahead of ancient Rome, something that many an exalted gladiator would be extremely envious of. Because where else can you buy gallant wardrobe as well as noble blade directly from one house than at Hinz Waffen & Outdoor? For more than 90 years, the owner-managed traditional house has ensured that hunting enthusiasts, anglers and outdoor fans always have the right equipment at the ready and still look fashionable. With the move to Hallstadt, the sales area was increased to 120 m² for an even more varied range.
Frank Woitek completed his training at Hinz and has now been working for the company for 20 years. He manages the weapons department with a high degree of competence, a sense of responsibility and, above all, passion. He received his first knife at the age of 3 from his grandfather, who was an avid gun collector at the time. The extensive assortment includes various products from the areas of knives, firearms, bows, crossbows as well as outdoor equipment and last but not least everything around billiards and darts. In the fashion department, ladies and gentlemen are advised in style by Mr. Hinz and his team.
Knives of the Boker brand, meanwhile, occupy a prominent place in Hinz's assortment. Not only did the senior bosses of both companies level an exemplary business relationship from the ground up, but the mercantile senses of Mr. Starz, the Boker sales representative responsible today, were also sharpened commercially during his apprenticeship at Hinz. Frank Woitek praises the smooth cooperation since "Boker always has an open ear for our wishes and problems."
The department head has a special history with the Boker Barlow Integral Leopard Damascus: "In my military days, I was a tank driver myself, which is why the knife sparks a great deal of enthusiasm in me and also among my military-savvy customers. The classy appearance of the collector's knife with a Damascus blade speaks for itself, even though the steel was once used in a war tool."
Even without Kunz, Hinz (german Hinz und Kunz corresponds to Tom, Dick and Harry) is always worth a visit at the new location in Hallstadt.
