"Every boy needs a knife and a string as a toy!" With these words, Andreas Kaufmann revels in childhood memories and moves in his mind's eye over hill and dale amid lush green meadows and magnificent forests at the foot of the Bavarian Alps. Always with him: A g'scheites Feitl (bavarian for: a good folding knife). This Bavarian wisdom has already guided generations of children in the responsible use of knives, so that they can discover and explore the magnificent Alpine nature even better.
Today, Andreas Kaufmann is a master engraver and co-owner of "Der Graveur Kaufmann". The master workshop in the heart of Garmisch-Partenkirchen was founded in 1952 as an engraving workshop and is now run by the third generation of Andreas and Georg Kaufmann. Since then, the traditional handwork has been cultivated with passion. Thus, the owner manages like no other to create unique one-of-a-kind items for his customers from special products. In addition to gold and silverware, he engraves knives, cutlery, belt buckles and even glass items. Since 1988, he has also had a store for selected handicrafts, knives and silverware in the tranquil pedestrian zone of Garmisch.
Occasionally, Andreas Kaufmann's gaze wanders to a special knife. There to be found: an engraving with a special date on the handle. It is his very first knife, given to him by his grandfather for his first communion, and it played a major role in his enthusiasm for knives and engraving. It is therefore no coincidence that a large part of the assortment in the store consists of the most diverse types of knives: pocket knives, fixed knives, chef's knives or even razor knives. The products from Boker have already had a permanent place in the display at "Der Graveur Kaufmann" for over 10 years and have delighted owners and customers alike. The product behind the product is also coherent: "The relationship with Boker is always trusting and characterized by mutual appreciation. This has enabled us to jointly expand our product range year after year, so that the traditional company Boker has become an important pillar of our range." The expansion of the online range, planned for spring 2021, represents another important step towards the future and combines the values of traditional craftsmanship with a modern and strong-selling Internet presence.
The harmony of classic values and a high level of everyday utility is also ideally embodied by the Boker 1906. Andreas Kaufmann enthuses, "A true classic that was lost for a long time and has now recently been restored. I particularly like the clear, charismatic lines without any frills. The solid 440C blade and secure backlock round out the features harmoniously."
In an increasingly hectic world with many soulless mass-produced products, more and more customers are longing for the lovingly handcrafted products of the good old days. "Our company, as well as Boker, can authentically represent these values through its corporate history."
With his masterful engravings, Andreas Kaufmann creates extraordinary works and gift ideas that may be the childhood memories of tomorrow. Traditional craftsmanship to amaze - Da legst di nieada! (Bavarian for: You will be astonished!
