Columbia River Knife and Tool, CRKT for short, was founded by Rod Bremer in Oregon in 1994 and has become one of the best-known knife brands in the world in the years that followed. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary in 2019, we wanted to take the opportunity to introduce our American friends a little closer.
CRKT offers a wide range of functional sports, work and professional knives as well as tools for everyday use, which are absolutely practical due to their robustness and the materials used. Thanks to its clear focus on creativity and customer benefit, CRKT regularly inspires customers with a whole range of exceptional innovations and patents, such as particularly secure locking mechanisms like the FireSafe system or new opening aids like the OutBurst Assist.
The American company achieved its breakthrough as early as 1997 at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The K.I.S.S. (Keep It Super Simple) pocket knife presented there was designed by Ed Halligan and became a bestseller within a very short time. Compact, affordable and innovative, this model (order no. 01CR100), which is still available today, is exemplary for the CKRT product range.
For many years CRKT has also been producing functional knives in close cooperation with the most renowned knifemakers and designers, enabling all knife fans to enjoy the latest custom designs for everyday use at affordable prices. The list of international designers is diverse and long, ranging from Ken Onion, Kit Carson and James Williams to Jesper Voxnæs and Liong Mah.
