"Ahoy - and always a hand's breadth of water under your keel!" is still the motto in Warnemünde, a once sleepy fishing village in the north of Rostock. But since the beginning of the 19th century, the small town has developed into one of the most important harbour towns in Germany. In addition to being the most important cruise port in the country, Warnemünde is known for its sailing regattas with folk festival character, which attract numerous visitors every year. In addition, the town was awarded the title of "seaside resort", which refers to the outstanding conditions for the implementation of spa measures in combination with the beneficial sea climate.
