Castle Burg is a landmark of the Bergisches Land, rising above the river Wupper near the Boker Manufactory. Count Adolf II. von Berg had the castle constructed on the foundations of a 10th-century fortress. It was finished in 1133. Today, it is one of the biggest castles in western Germany, inseparably connected to the Duchy of Berg and the Counts von Berg (1068-1225). Even today, Burg Castle still reflects the enormous wealth of the dynasty and their far-reaching influence in Northrhine-Westphalia. Count Engelbert II. von Berg was also the Archbishop of Cologne. We keep in touch with the historians of Burg Castle because the corporate history of Boker can be traced back to 1674, when the tree was first entered as the company's trade symbol for tools, and because our history is closely connected to that of the Bergisches Land. Right now, large parts of the castle are being faithfully restored. This includes the replacement of ancient solid oak planks. This inspired us to preserve the historic material for future generations, skillfully turning it into handle scales in our Manufactory. This was the foundation of our knife series Boker Schloss Burg, comprising seven traditional knife styles steeped in history. Apart from the scales of historic oak wood sourced from Burg Castle (Schloss Burg), the knives also feature brass liners and blades made from O1 carbon steel. Highlighting the authenticity of the knives, the blades are finished with a special acid wash, which also protects them from harmful environmental impact. All styles are handcrafted by Boker Manufactory Solingen as a strictly limited edition of 1133 pieces worldwide. They come with a new version of the historic Boker tree symbol. Some things are very much en vogue for a while before falling back into obscurity – usually deservedly so. Yet others are much too beautiful, too precious to remain lost forever. The classic Boker 1906 is such a case. The design is more than a hundred years old, but its clear lines are still much loved today. Thus, we spared no effort in bringing the 1906 back to life. Neither old tools nor prototypes or design drawings existed, so we had to redesign the knife from scratch, guided by traditional methods throughout the whole production process. The result is a charismatic pocketknife with a new lease of life, exuding fin de siècle charm – a very special piece mainly because of its clean lines and characteristic grind. Messer mit Geschichte

Als ich das Messer zum ersten Mal sah, musste ich es haben. Als ich das Messer dann in den Händen hielt, war es noch schöner als abgebildet. Seitdem ist es mein ständiger Begleiter. Ein Messer mit Seele.

Ein schönes Stück Handwerkskunst

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem ganz bestimmten Taschenmesser, mit einer ganz genauen Vorstellung bin ich in den Schneidwarenladen meines Vertrauens. Die Vorstellung war nicht zu groß, nicht zu klein und keine Standard China Massenware. Ich hatte bestimmt 20 Messer in der Hand und keines kam in Frage, bis ich dieses Messer in der Vitrine sah. Der Holzgriff kommt in Natura noch viel schöner rüber, der Stahl war mir schon bekannt und die Geschichte dahinter hat das ganze abgerundet. Ich muss dazu sagen, ich wollte eigentlich ein größeres Messer kaufen, aber ich musste dieses Messer haben und bereue meine Entscheidung nicht. Ich bin immer noch sehr glücklich mit dem Messer und im Alltag ist es der perfekte Begleiter. Danke Firma Böker für ein schönes Stück Handwerkskunst.

Wahnsinnig schönes und geschichtsträchtiges Messer

Dieser historische Wegbegleiter sieht nicht nur wunderschön aus, sondern kommt auch rasiermesser scharf aus der Box. Die Haptik stimmt und die Arretierung schnappt satt ein. Also ein rundum tolles Messer für einen absolut berechtigten Preis!

Ein Stück Geschichte

Ich habe mir dieses Messer gekauft weil ich es erstens optisch sehr schön finde aber auch weil es ein Stück der Solinger Geschichte darstellt.
Es ist super scharf, also vorsichtig! Die 5 Sterne sind definitiv verdient!
