m4-sherman-damast-110662dam
M4 Sherman Damascus
The extraordinary Boker M4 Sherman Damascus is a piece of living history, combining high-quality craftsmanship with historical materials. The American M4 Sherman was designed as early as 1940 and is still considered one of the most famous tanks in history. It was produced between 1942 and 1945, remained in service until 1957, and was used in all theaters of World War II - not only by the United States and Canada, but also by Great Britain, the Free French Forces, China, and even the Soviet Union.

Originally developed to replace the M3 Grant/Lee medium tank, the Sherman tank's primary task was to support infantry, lead assaults, and reinforce defensive positions. Nearly 50,000 Shermans were built, making it the most widely used Allied tank in World War II. It was produced in countless mission-specific variations and remained in use well into the Cold War.

Together with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, we have succeeded in preserving an important piece of vanished history. The Boker Sherman Damascus features a unique Damascus blade forged from various materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks, which were previously restored by the museum. The unique 80-layer Damascus is hand-forged for us by Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern, reminiscent of the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy treads of the M4 Sherman. The ball-bearing blade opens via a thumb stud and is secured by a sturdy steel framelock, with a Hinderer Lock-Stop acting as overtravel protection for the lock.

The overall shape of the knife pays homage to the aesthetic lines of the tank, while the decorative blade pivot screw is modeled after the characteristic main drive sprocket. The lightly contoured jute Micarta handle scale fits comfortably in the hand and its color is reminiscent of the camouflage paint used by both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps. With a lanyard hole and practical deep-carry clip (tip-up/r). Handcrafted in the Boker Knife Manufactory Solingen. Delivered with an elegant floating display, certificate of authenticity, and individual serial number.

A portion of the proceeds from each knife sold goes to the Americans in Wartime Museum to support educational programs and the care and preservation of these proud examples of American history. The Americans in Wartime Museum is a non-profit cultural and educational institution dedicated to honoring those who served in all branches of the U.S. military and on the home front from World War I to the present. The museum serves to educate the public, especially young people, by telling individual stories of personal experiences, the realities of war, and the sacrifices made by Americans in the struggle to preserve freedom. The museum inspires visitors by allowing them to experience military vehicles, explore artifacts, and participate in reenactments and special programs in a dynamic, interactive environment.

Please visit www.NMAW.org for more information and donation support.

[[M4,Sherman,Tank,War,World War,US Army,Wartime Museum]]
